Meet Tom and Julian, our testing and development team.

Tom is our amazing draftsman. He joined BSL in 2021, after completing his Level 4 HNC Diploma in engineering manufacturing. Before that, he worked as a draftsman and laser programmer and operator at a metalwork company.

Tom’s contributions at BSL are instrumental in our development and production process. His expertise in computer-aided design software enables him to transform our ideas into tangible designs, allowing our workshop team to bring these concepts to life. His skills have been hugely important in creating rapid prototypes, jigs, fixtures and support equipment. He’s a talented 3D printer, too!

Tom works alongside our Master Product Technician, Julian, who joined us back in 1997.

After obtaining his City & Guilds qualification in mechanical engineering, he moved on to work as a tool room machinist, before venturing into the aerospace industry where he worked on building flight simulators. With his extensive experience and skills, Julian brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. His expertise spans welding, electrical engineering and troubleshooting, making him the go-to person for customer support.

Together, Tom and Julian collaborate closely with our Director of Engineering and Quality, Keith, ensuring the seamless execution of projects and upholding the highest standards of quality and innovation in our products.

We are so incredibly fortunate to have such a strong foundation of knowledge and skill within our team and we’d like to say a huge thank you to Julian and Tom for everything they do!
